The Association of Lithuanian Science Olympiads (LGMOA) was founded in 2002 and has been successfully carrying out its activities for the fifth year. In 2004 the so-callled ‘orange’ movement – a group of young and energetic student naturalists – joined the LGMOA. Along with the Lithuanian Ministry of Science and Education LGMOA takes part in organizing biology and chemistry Olympiads.
The main objectives of the LGMOA is to encourage Lithuanian youth get involved and engaged in natural and biomedical science as well as choose study natural science later in their lives. In addition, the LGMOA helps raise pupils’ biological and chemical expertise stressing the importance of practically applied natural science.
One of the most important activities of the LGMOA is the organization and development of biology and chemistry Olympiads for pupils at regional and national levels, as wel as the development of the recently started online biology training programme. An inseparable part of our activities is assistance in training and preparing Lithuanian pupils for international chemistry and biology Olympiads.
